Security Coordinator Jobs in New York
A Security Coordinator is a professional responsible for orchestrating and implementing security measures in an organization. They play a pivotal role in maintaining safe and secure environments for employees and customers by establishing and enforcing security protocols. They are tasked with monitoring and controlling access to the organization's premises, coordinating responses to security incidents, and conducting regular security assessments. Their job also entails developing and implementing security policies and procedures, providing security training to staff, and ensuring compliance with the law and organizational policies.
Important skills for a Security Coordinator include strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle stress effectively. Knowledge of security systems and procedures, emergency response planning, and physical security principles is integral. Certifications can range from Certified Protection Professional (CPP) to Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), or a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Prior to becoming a Security Coordinator, individuals may have roles such as a Security Officer, Security Analyst, or Security Supervisor, which provide the foundational knowledge and experience necessary for the role.
